Alexis Sanchez & Manchester United

Hopes that Alexis Sanchez can rediscover his old form at Man United this season have been dented on Wednesday in the Sun.

Man United opened their Premier League campaign beating Chelsea 4-0.

Alexis Sanchez didn’t make the matchday squad against the Blues.

‘Sign for Roma or play for Man United U23s’

Sun reporter Neil Custis is claiming today that Alexis Sanchez is facing an ultimatum at Old Trafford:

Alexis Sanchez faces being banished to Manchester United’s reserves unless he agrees to a move abroad.

Roma want him on loan but refuse to pay his huge salary and the Old Trafford side may have to share the burden to get him out.

The Sun believe Man United could foot a sizeable amount of Sanchez’s salary to fund his move to Roma.

For the record, the transfer market in the Italian top flight shuts on Friday, August 23.

The brand new Serie A season starts the following day.

Alexis Sanchez’s ‘bust-up’ with Mason Greenwood

While Sanchez’s light seems to be fading at Man United, his spot in the Red Devils squad could be filled by 19-year-old Mason Greenwood.

After impressing during pre-season, Greenwood was brought on in the second half against Chelsea last weekend.

The Sun ramp up the Sanchez vs Greenwood narrative today by reporting on a ‘bust-up’ at training:

Alexis Sanchez was left fuming in pre-season after a clash with rising star Mason Greenwood.

Sanchez, 30, was fouled in one of his first sessions after returning from the Copa America with a hamstring injury.

SunSport has been told angry words were exchanged between the pair.

Hmm. So Greenwood may have mistimed a tackle on Sanchez at training, and the Chilean may have been miffed.

Is this even a story? Isn’t this what happens at training everywhere, every day?
