Egyptian Assem Marei (206-F-92) had a great game in the last round for Pinar Karsiyaka and that’s him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 26-year old forward had a double-double of 32 points and eleven rebounds, while his team outclassed Bahcesehir (#9, 6-7) with 26-point margin 103-77. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Pinar Karsiyaka is placed at 10th position in Turkish BSL. Pinar Karsiyaka is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-8 record. Marei turned to be Pinar Karsiyaka’s top player in his first season with the team. Minnesota State University Mankato graduate has very impressive stats this year. Marei is in league’s top in points (4th best: 18.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.1rpg) and averages solid 66.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 24-year old American center Devin Williams (206-C-94) of Buyukcekmece. Williams impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Buyukcekmece lost that game 85-93 to the higher-ranked Galatasaray (#6, 8-5). This loss caused Buyukcekmece to drop to 11th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league’s best with a mere 5-8 record. Williams is a newcomer at Buyukcekmece and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.8ppg (#3). He also registered 12.4 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Nigel Hayes (203-F-94) of Galatasaray (#6). Hayes scored 27 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Galatasaray, leading his team to a 93-85 win against the lower-ranked Buyukcekmece (#11, 5-8). Galatasaray needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Hayes has a great season in Turkey. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league’s leaders in points with 12.2ppg (6th best) and assists with 1.8apg (8th best). He also has FGP: 50.7% and 3PT: 41.2%.

7. Luka Babic (201-SF-91) of Istanbul BBSK – 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
