Floyd Mayweather on Rizin bout: Did I have a training camp for Tenshin Nasukawa? No
Floyd Mayweather outclassed Tenshin Nasukawa and stopped him in the very first round on Rizin’s new year’s eve event in Japan.
The 50-0 boxer was always going to be a massive favorite over the much smaller, 20-year-old kickboxer, but he still made it look easy. Mayweather, who was noticeably bigger than his last few professional bouts, also says that he didn’t really train much for this exhibition boxing match.
“Did I have a training camp for this fight? No,” Mayweather said during the post-fight press conference. “I went to the gym a few times and moved around with Daquan (Mays), a young champion on the rise. Now, I’mma call him a champion now — he could be a champion, which I believe he can, with experience, and if he listened. He’s young, he has a lot to learn, but he will be okay.
“I’m just happy he was able to move around with me, just a little bit, just to get the kinks out, so I can come out here and perform for you guys.”
Mayweather dropped Nasukawa thrice and finished him in under a round, while claiming to have earned nine million dollars for a little over two minutes of work.
