Manchester United fans want Jose Mourinho sacked immediately after Liverpool defeat
Manchester United supporters are in general agreement that Jose Mourinho’s position as manager is untenable following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.
There is, on top of that, a widespread feeling among the fan-base that Man United as a club requires a more fundamental restructuring in which a director of football is appointed and Ed Woodward is left exclusively with merely business decisions for the club.
Sunday’s resounding loss at Liverpool, during which Man United showed no ambition to win the game, left them with their worst ever points tally after 17 Premier League games.
What’s your honest take on Jose Mourinho, the situation at Man United and the next steps you’d like to see the club take? Sack Mourinho immediately? Bring in who? Keep him until the end of the season? Bigger changes behind to the club’s structure? What do you want to see? #mufc pic.twitter.com/ITarxiZMjO

Supporters were convinced that keeping Mourinho at this point would be a pointless exercise which would only see United regress further.

The problems all begin above Mourinho. He should go and isn’t blameless but he isn’t the root cause. Anyone with a brain should be able to see he isn’t happy with the way things are run above him. Nothing will really change until the Glazers are gone and Woodward is gone. End of.

I think he has to go now. Really can’t see it getting better. Get an interim in and press ahead with plans for DOF and top manager in summer. Try and give players a lift for FA Cup and CL knock outs. They can’t sit still and let things regress much further

Jose out now, let Butt / Carrick have it till end of season. Re-assess come end of season. Get the players confidence back & let them play / express themselves plenty of talent with rashford/pogba/martial/mata/Dave etc. DOF is a must!

Definitely need bigger changes in the club’s overall structure and running. That being said, Woodward and Mourinho should be sacked. Give manager job on a temp basis to Butt/Carrick/Keane

I’m not screaming for his head. He’s still a top manager. BUT, it’s gone too far for it to be fixed at United now. Most players don’t wanna play for him. Most fans hate him. It’s simply not gonna happen for him at United. Therefore get rid of him and we start fresh.

At any other football club, Mourinho would have been sacked some time ago. You would not even need to base that decision on results; the mood around the team and their style of football, surely, is enough for anybody to see that the ship is sinking.
Unfortunately, United are something of a business these days. And, like with any business, they will push the button on Mourinho only when it is cheapest to do so, leaving supporters with the same old story, week-in-week-out, until it becomes mathematically impossible to qualify for the Champions League in, say, March or April.
It promises to be a very long few months, with little to feel excited about.
