Manuel Pellegrini gives West Ham injury update before Southampton
Southampton vs West Ham
West Ham travel to Southampton on Thursday as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Watford.
West Ham had been on a fine run of form before Watford, winning their previous four league games.
However, they would lose 2-0 at home to Watford on Saturday.
The Hammers have now dropped down to 12th in the league but a win vs Southampton could see them move as high as 7th.
A win will not be easy to come by vs a revitalised Southampton though.
Ralph Hasenhuttl would pick up his first win as Southampton boss in a shock 3-2 win vs Arsenal.
Southampton would then go on to win their last game vs Huddersfield.
The Saints are now 16th in the league and could move up 15th with a win on Thursday.
West Ham injury update
Ahead of the clash with Southampton, Manuel Pellegrini has given an injury update on his players.
Fabien Balbuena would have a nightmare afternoon for West Ham vs Watford.
The defender would give away a penalty that saw his side go 1-0 down and would also injury himself while giving away said penalty.
West Ham forward Hernandez would also suffer a knock vs Watford.
After the pair picked up injuries on Saturday Pellegrini has revealed the pair will need to be assessed before deciding if they can play vs Southampton.
Pellegrini reveals Balbuena (knee) and Chicharito (muscle) must be assessed before deciding whether they will be involved at Southampton on 27 December. The Hammers defender was injured following a first half challenge on Pereyra while Hernandez felt his hamstring late on. #WHUFC
