TAU Castello (LEB Gold) signed 30-year old Lithuanian-Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-92kg-88). He played last season at Stella Artois Leuven Bears in Belgian Euromillions League. In 29 games he had 9.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.6apg. The previous (16-17) season Zabas played at Pieno Zvaigzdes Pasvalys (LKL) in league where in 22 games he recorded 11.9ppg, 1.6rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg. He also played 12 games in Baltic League where he averaged 12.4ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.1apg. Zabas helped them to make it to the final. A very impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Baltic League 1st Team. The other team he played that season for was Cretan Kings (A1) in league. In 9 games he got 5.2ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.1apg. Zabas was a member of Lithuanian U20 National Team back in 2008. He is quite experienced player. Zabas has played also professionally in Estonia, Germany (Eisbaeren Bremerhaven and Bremerhaven), Sweden (KFUM Jamtland), United Kingdom (Plymouth Raiders, Worcester Wolves and Worthing Thunder), Czech Republic (BK Pardubice), Latvia (Tartu Ulikool), Lithuania (Lietkabelis) and Canada (Orangeville A’s).

C.D. UDEA Baloncesto Algeciras (EBA) added to their roster 27-year old Canadian guard Jabs Newby (188-86kg-91, college: Gannon). He started the season at Fundacion Globalcaja La Roda in the LEB Silver. In 15 games he had 3.7ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.4apg this season. The last season Newby played at Araberri (LEB Gold). LEB Silver was a little too high level for him, where in 14 LEB Gold games he recorded just 1.6ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.4apg. He also played for Bodegas Rioja Vega Logrono (LEB Gold). In 10 games he averaged 3.4ppg and 1.3rpg. Newby also spent pre-season at Riptide in Canadian NBL Canada. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team made it to the NBL Canada Semifinals in 2016. Newby was also voted USBasket.com NBL Canada All-Rookie Team back in 2015. His career allowed him to visit three different continents. Newby tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Mexico (Pioneros Los Mochis), Canada (Power and Windsor Express) and NBA G League (Raptors 905 Missisauga).
