Chelsea want Edinson Cavani

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a £50m bid for PSG and Uruguay forward Edinson Cavani, according to the Express.

Cavani joined PSG in July of 2013 from Napoli and at the time, was the most expensive signing in Ligue 1 history.

The 31-year-old has gone on to play 264 games for the Ligue 1 outfit across all competitions, in which he has scored an impressive 183 goals and assisted 35.

Cavani is also enjoying another fine start to the 2018/19 season. He has played 11 Ligue 1 games this season and has found the net 10 times.

Alvaro Morata replacement?

If Chelsea were to land Cavani it would likely pave the way for Alvaro Morata to leave Stamford Bridge.

Since joining Chelsea Morata has never really been able to settle and is currently in the midst of another average campaign littered with big misses.

The latest of which came on Saturday as Morata missed an open goal from around three yards out.

As a result, Morata is increasingly being linked with a move away from Chelsea with Dortmund and Sevilla said to be interested.

This would probably be a wise move for both Morata and Chelsea.

Morata has proven that he is lacking in confidence and simply cannot score enough goals in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s lack of a goal scoring number nine is clear when you look at the Premier League table.

The Blues currently sit in 4th place in the league but they are the lowest scorers out of the top six sides with just 38 goals from 21 games.
