Dortmund agree to sell Julian Weigl to PSG
As per a report from French outlet Le Parisien, Ligue 1 leaders PSG are inching towards a deal for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl.
Weigl’s Dortmund stint
Weigl, a deep-lying 23-year-old midfielder who can also play in defence, has been on the books of Dortmund since 2015.
He has since gone on to develop into one of German football’s most highly-regarded young players, with Weigl’s calm demeanour, deft touch and eye for a pass having even seen the 1860 Munich youth product draw comparisons with Barcelona and Spain legend Sergio Busquets.
Weigl’s first 3 seasons combined at the Westfalenstadion saw him play a key role in the middle of the park for BVB, racking up 85 Bundesliga appearances.
Weigl’s struggles
However, the current campaign has since proven a different story altogether.
A combination of injury problems and the instant impact made by Axel Witsel have seen Weigl struggle for game-time.
All told, the 5-time capped German international has been handed just 3 Bundesliga starts this season.
PSG bound?
As such, it has come as little surprise that Weigl has been linked with a potential move away from the Westfalenstadion this month.
And, after the reliable SportBild named Arsenal as suitors of the gifted German back in November, another club have since moved firmly to the front of the queue for Weigl.
The outfit in question are Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The capital giants are known to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this month, with Adrien Rabiot having been banished to the stands over his decision to depart the Parc des Princes on a free transfer at the end of the season.
PSG sporting director Antero Henrique: “Adrien Rabiot has told me that he will not sign a contract extension & that he wishes to leave the club at the end of the season, so once his current deal finishes. The consequences are very clear: he is indefinitely benched.” https://t.co/ELsNJuVwoa

And, as per the aforementioned update this morning, PSG look to be inching closer to clinching a deal for their latest reinforcement in the middle of the park.
Dortmund’s Weigl is the player in question, with Le Parisien insistent that Dortmund have relented in their stance that the youngster is not for sale.
Weigl’s surprise price-tag
However, what comes as a surprise are BVB’s rumoured demands for Weigl.
The Bundesliga leaders are said to be ready to part with their midfield gem for just 25 million Euro.
Le Parisien are reporting that Dortmund have relented and agreed to sell Julian Weigl to PSG this month, if PSG pay a minimum of €25 million.
