Sassuolo midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has this evening confirmed that he is set to join La Liga champions Barcelona imminently.

Sassuolo star

Boateng, 31, has lined out for a wide range of clubs over the course of his career, including stints in England with both Tottenham and Portsmouth.

Following productive one-year spells on the books of Las Palmas and Eintracht Frankfurt over the last two seasons, the Ghanaian international most-recently signed with Serie A outfit Sassuolo last summer.

To this point in the campaign, Boateng has notched 5 goals and an assist across 15 appearances for the Neroverdi.

Barcelona bound

However, as per a growing number of reports across the European media over the course of the day, the African midfielder’s stint at the Mapei Stadium looks set to come to an end after just half a season.

This is due to a surprise swoop on the part of Spanish giants Barcelona for Boateng’s signature.

With the Blaugrana known to be on the lookout for reinforcements in attacking areas following Munir’s departure for Sevilla, the veteran’s ability to play as both a midfielder and forward has seemingly convinced the board at the Camp Nou that Boateng is the right candidate to add some depth to their frontline.

‘Barca, I’m coming’

And, incredibly, the former AC Milan man has this evening confirmed that his arrival in Catalunya is now imminent:

Boateng is expected to arrive on a 2 million Euro loan deal for the remainder of the campaign. Barcelona will then have the option to make his signing permanent in the summer for a further 8 million Euro (as per Goal.com).
