Man United’s David de Gea is injured

Manchester United’s injury problems worsened on Tuesday night with a blow to goalie David de Gea.

De Gea limped out of Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier away in Sweden.

Just before the hour mark, after clearing his lines, De Gea slumped to the turf in Stockholm.

The Man United goalie received medical treatment before hobbling off the turf.

After the match, Spain coach Robert Moreno confirmed that De Gea pulled a muscle in his groin.

Will David de Gea be fit for Liverpool?

Although it’s yet to be confirmed, it seems highly unlikely that De Gea will be fit for Man United to face Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford.

Sergio Romero will probably start in goal against the Reds.

Of course, Man United already had a long list of injury concerns before Liverpool.

Luke Shaw is expected to miss out with his ongoing hamstring problems.

Paul Pogba is also a doubt for the Liverpool game.

When Sadio Mane and Liverpool’s Brazilians will return to Anfield

By contrast, Jurgen Klopp appears set to have a full roster of players to pick from for the Man United game.

In the Mirror, Liverpool fans are informed of when they can expect to see their international stars return to Anfield:

Sadio Mane has been given some time off after playing for Senegal against Brazil last week, but is likely to be back (on Wednesday).

Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, who have both been on international duty in the Far East with the Selecao, should return to Melwood on Thursday.

Joel Matip & Alisson back in Liverpool training

Also, Liverpool confirmed on Tuesday that Joel Matip and Alisson are back in first team training:

Joel Matip resumed training at Melwood on Tuesday morning after recovering from a knock sustained prior to the international break.

Alisson Becker also trained with Liverpool’s goalkeepers as he closes in on a return to action following a calf injury.
