AS per a report from reliable Brazilian outlet Globoesporte, the injury picked up by Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar last night is not as serious as had been initially feared.

PSG 2-0 Strasbourg

French giants PSG welcomed Strasbourg to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night, for a Ligue 1 clash.

In the end, the capital outfit emerged with a comfortable 2-0 win, courtesy of goals from Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria.

As such, Thomas Tuchel’s men now sit a massive 13 points clear atop the Ligue 1 table.

Neymar crocked

However, on an otherwise positive night for PSG, the French powerhouse were also dealt a hugely-worrying blow on the injury-front.

The individual to have picked up the problem was world’s most expensive player Neymar.

After he had already been roughed up on a number of occasions, Strasbourg midfielder Moataz Zemzemi eventually left Neymar in tears following a challenge on the Brazilian attacker just past the hour mark.

Neymar subsequently limped off in clear pain to be replaced by Moussa Diaby.

In the aftermath of his side’s victory, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel confirmed to Eurosport that he was’worried’ about the fitness of his side’s star man:

‘No, I did not talk to Neymar because he’s in the hospital. Yes, I’m worried.’

‘It’s always complicated. It’s the same foot and the same metatarsal [that Neymar had operated on early last year].’

PSG boost

Reports emanating from the likes of the Guardian this morning since went on to suggest that Neymar’s injury had seen him placed in serious doubt to feature in PSG’s crunch Champions League last-16 first-leg meeting with Manchester United in 3 weeks’ time.

But, as per the aforementioned update from reliable Brazilian outlet Globoesporte a short time ago, further tests over the course of the day have revealed the 26-year-old’s problem to be less serious than was first feared.

The injury reportedly ‘did not affect the screw’ placed in Neymar’s ankle last March, with the possibility existing that the former Barcelona man could return to the pitch within the next 10 days.
