Update provided on Everton’s pursuit of permanent Andre Gomes deal
Will Gomes remain at Goodison Park past the summer?
With Everton’s loan deal with Barcelona for Andre Gomes set to end in the summer, there’s been an update on a possible permanent move to Goodison Park.
Gomes moved to Everton on the final day of the summer transfer window in a season-long loan deal, following deals which saw teammates Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina move permanently.
The Portugese midfielder was seen to be the player Everton fans had been hoping for since Mikel Arteta left for Arsenal.
He soon proved to be that player, putting in a string of impressive performances.
However, it’s not all been sunshine and rainbows for the former Valencia man recently.
Gomes’ performances have dipped, as have the performances of his teammates.
Though, despite that, reports are suggesting a permanent deal this summer is very much on the cards.
The consensus is ‘absolute’
That is because according to Mundo Deportivo, as cited and translated by Sport Witness, all the signs are positive.
They claim that Everton will be looking to do a deal in the summer, with Barcelona more than happy to part with Gomes to raise funds.
It is also claimed, “He is happy at Goodison Park and Everton are ‘willing make an effort’ to sign him.”
The report goes on to explain that there has been no offer as yet but Barcelona are waiting for contact to be made.
Mundo Deportivo seem extremely confident of a deal going through, explaining ‘the consensus is ‘absolute’ on the transfer.’
It’s looking more and more likely that Andre Gomes will be an Everton player beyond the summer.
